1 · Your comparison
Start with your CPP estimate
Use the monthly age-65 estimate from your CPP statement. Your results will appear when you enter it.
2 · Timing options
Choose three start ages
Payments begin the month after each selected age.
CPP increases & investingOptional detail
Leave the CPP increase blank for fixed-dollar payments. Enter a return to compare what would happen if each net CPP payment were invested.
Tax & OAS recovery estimatesOptional detail
Use an estimated marginal rate for additional CPP income. This is not a complete tax calculation.
Include OAS, exclude CPP. This amount is held constant in the model.

Contribution and post-retirement benefit (PRB)Optional detail
PRB is extra CPP from contributions made while working after your CPP pension starts. Enter an externally estimated amount only if it is not already included in your CPP estimate; otherwise leave these fields blank.

How it works
Methodology and limits
CPP start age
The age-65 estimate is reduced by 0.6% per month before 65 or increased by 0.7% per month after 65. The first modeled payment arrives one month after the chosen age.
Year-by-year values
Values are calculated monthly through age 100. CPP indexing uses the entered annual rate on each start anniversary, because exact calendar dates are not collected.
Estimated tax and OAS recovery
These optional estimates show how different CPP start ages could change income tax and Old Age Security repayment. Tax uses the rate you enter; OAS recovery uses a fixed 2026 threshold and age-based OAS cap. This is not a tax return.
Investing and present value
Net CPP is invested at the end of each month using a monthly equivalent of the entered annual effective return. Present values discount each payment back to age 60.
Important limitations
Survivor benefits, QPP, CPP contribution-history reconstruction, OAS deferral, future tax thresholds, and a full income-tax calculation are outside this model. It compares financial outcomes under your assumptions and does not choose a universally best age.
Rule reference: 2026. CPP start age · OAS recovery tax
