This Privacy Policy explains how SmartMoneySteven ("we," "us," or "our") may collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use smartmoneysteven.ca, our educational calculators, digital products, and related services.

Information you provide may include:
- your name;

When you purchase a SmartMoneySteven digital product, the transaction may be processed through Lemon Squeezy.
We may receive information associated with the transaction that is reasonably necessary to provide the product, maintain purchase records, provide customer support, or administer access.
This may include information such as your name, email address, purchased product, transaction status, and transaction identifier.
SmartMoneySteven does not need to directly collect or store your complete payment-card information when a transaction is processed through Lemon Squeezy.
Technical information
When you visit the website, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our website infrastructure or service providers.
This may include:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- device type;
- operating system;
- pages viewed;
- approximate geographic region;
- referral source;
- date and time of access; and
- diagnostic or security information.
This information may be used to operate, secure, maintain, and understand the use of the website.
2. Calculator Information
SmartMoneySteven calculators may ask you to enter financial information in order to produce an educational calculation or scenario.
You should not enter personally identifying information, account numbers, passwords, Social Insurance Numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information into a calculator.
Calculator inputs are intended solely to generate the calculation or educational output presented by the tool.
Where a particular calculator stores, transmits, or otherwise collects user-entered information beyond what is necessary to perform the calculation, additional information may be provided within the tool or at the point of collection.
3. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information for reasonable purposes including:
- providing access to purchased digital products;
- processing and maintaining records of purchases;
- responding to questions or support requests;
- operating and maintaining our website and tools;
- troubleshooting technical problems;
- protecting against fraud, abuse, or security threats;

- fulfilling legal, regulatory, accounting, and tax obligations; and
- communicating with you where you have requested or consented to communication.
We do not collect personal information for unrelated purposes without identifying the new purpose and obtaining consent where required.
4. Payment Processing and Lemon Squeezy
Purchases of SmartMoneySteven digital products may be processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for transactions conducted through its platform.
Lemon Squeezy independently collects and processes information necessary to process payments, administer transactions, manage fraud and payment security, calculate applicable taxes, and perform other merchant-of-record functions.
Information provided directly to Lemon Squeezy is also governed by Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy and applicable terms.
SmartMoneySteven does not control Lemon Squeezy's independent processing of information.
5. Service Providers
We may use third-party service providers to help operate SmartMoneySteven.
These may include providers of:
- website hosting;
- domain and infrastructure services;
- payment processing;
- digital-product delivery;
- email services;
- website analytics;
- security and fraud prevention; and
- technical support.
These providers may process information on our behalf or, in some circumstances, for their own purposes as described in their policies.
We seek to disclose only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service.
6. International Processing
Some service providers used by SmartMoneySteven may operate or store information outside British Columbia or Canada.
As a result, personal information may be processed in another province or country and may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of that jurisdiction.
7. Cookies, Affiliate Tracking, and Similar Technologies
SmartMoneySteven and its service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate the website, maintain functionality, remember preferences, provide security, or understand website usage.
Some calculator-library pages load Lemon Squeezy's affiliate tracking script. If you arrive through an affiliate referral link, Lemon Squeezy may use a cookie or similar browser technology and referral identifiers to recognize the referring affiliate and attribute a qualifying purchase. Our affiliate program is configured for a 30-day tracking period. This tracking is used to record referrals and calculate affiliate commissions.
If you complete a purchase, Lemon Squeezy may use the referral and transaction information associated with that purchase to record the referral. Lemon Squeezy also processes checkout information under its own privacy policy. We do not control Lemon Squeezy's independent processing of information.
Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking or deleting referral-tracking technologies may prevent an affiliate referral from being attributed. Disabling other cookies may affect some website features.
8. Email Communications
If you choose to subscribe to educational emails or other communications, we may use the contact information you provide to send those communications.
You may unsubscribe from marketing or optional email communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the message or by contacting us.
Transactional or service-related messages concerning a purchase or support request may still be sent where reasonably necessary.
9. Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information.
We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary:
- to service providers assisting us in operating SmartMoneySteven;
- to process or support a product purchase;
- to investigate fraud, misuse, or security incidents;
- to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or lawful request;
- to protect our legal rights or the rights and safety of others; or
- as part of a business reorganization or transfer, subject to applicable legal requirements.
We do not use or disclose personal information for unrelated purposes without consent unless permitted or required by law.
10. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.
Different types of information may have different retention periods.
For example, transaction records may need to be retained for accounting, taxation, dispute-resolution, or legal purposes.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it as appropriate.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we handle.
However, no method of transmitting or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should avoid sending sensitive personal or financial information through ordinary email or website forms unless specifically requested through an appropriate secure process.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on the laws applicable to you, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including the ability to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you;
- request access to personal information we hold;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- withdraw consent to certain uses where withdrawal is legally permitted;
- ask questions about how your information has been used or disclosed; and
- raise a concern about our privacy practices.
We may need to verify your identity before providing access to personal information.
Certain legal exceptions may limit access, correction, or deletion rights in some circumstances.
