Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SmartMoneySteven website, educational calculators, digital tools, downloadable materials, and related digital products (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing the website, using a tool, or purchasing a digital product, you agree to these Terms.

"SmartMoneySteven," "we," "us," and "our" refer to SmartMoneySteven and its operator.

1. Educational Purpose Only

SmartMoneySteven provides personal-finance education, information, calculators, illustrations, and scenario-analysis tools.

All content and Services are provided for educational and informational purposes only.

Nothing provided through SmartMoneySteven constitutes or should be interpreted as:

• financial advice;
• investment advice or a recommendation to purchase, sell, or hold any security or investment;
• tax advice;
• legal advice;
• accounting advice;
• insurance advice; or
• any other individualized professional advice.

Use of the Services does not create a financial planner-client, advisor-client, fiduciary, professional, or other advisory relationship between you and SmartMoneySteven or its operator.

You are responsible for your own financial decisions and should obtain appropriate professional advice where required.

2. Calculators and Estimates

SmartMoneySteven calculators and tools are intended to illustrate financial concepts and potential scenarios.

Results may depend on information entered by the user, assumptions selected or built into a tool, tax rates and thresholds, government benefit rules, investment-return assumptions, inflation assumptions, interest rates, and other financial or economic variables.

Calculator results are estimates and illustrations only. They are not predictions, guarantees, recommendations, or promises of future results.

Financial rules, tax legislation, government programs, thresholds, and other information may change over time. Although reasonable efforts may be made to update the Services, SmartMoneySteven does not guarantee that every calculation, assumption, rate, threshold, or rule will always reflect the most current information.

You should independently verify information that is material to a financial decision.

3. Digital Product Purchases

Certain SmartMoneySteven tools are available as paid digital products.

Your one-time purchase provides lifetime access to the purchased calculator product. For these Terms, “lifetime” means the period during which SmartMoneySteven continues to operate and make that calculator product available; it refers to the life of the product, not the purchaser's lifetime.

Access includes updates to that calculator product that we make available while we continue to offer it, subject to the product-update terms below.

The applicable price will be displayed before purchase.

Payments for SmartMoneySteven digital products may be processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for transactions processed through its platform.

Purchases may also be subject to Lemon Squeezy's applicable buyer terms, payment policies, and privacy practices.

4. Access and Licence

When you purchase a SmartMoneySteven digital product, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to access and use that product for your own personal use.

Purchasing a product does not transfer ownership of the software, underlying calculations, source code, design, content, intellectual property, trademarks, or other proprietary materials.

Unless we provide written permission, you may not:

• resell or redistribute a product;
• share paid access with others;
• reproduce a paid product for commercial distribution;
• sublicense or commercially exploit a product;
• copy or publish substantial portions of a product;
• circumvent access restrictions;
• reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
• represent a SmartMoneySteven product as your own.

5. Product Updates

While we continue to operate and offer a calculator product, your purchase includes access to updates to that product that we make available at no additional charge.

This does not promise any particular update, feature, update schedule, or ongoing support. “Lifetime access” does not mean the product will be available forever or for the purchaser's lifetime.

We may modify, replace, discontinue, or withdraw a product where reasonably necessary. If we discontinue a calculator product, access to that product ends when it is no longer offered, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable law.

6. Refunds and Payment Issues

Purchases processed through Lemon Squeezy are subject to the checkout terms and applicable refund and payment procedures associated with the Lemon Squeezy transaction.

If you experience a technical problem accessing a purchased SmartMoneySteven product, please contact us so that we can attempt to resolve the issue.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you under applicable law.

7. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Financial outcomes depend on circumstances that are outside our control.

SmartMoneySteven does not guarantee:

• investment returns;
• tax savings;
• government benefits;
• retirement income;
• financial performance;
• eligibility for any program;
• the accuracy of a user's inputs; or
• that following an illustrated scenario will produce a particular outcome.

Historical results, assumed rates of return, projections, examples, and hypothetical scenarios should not be interpreted as guarantees of future performance.

8. User Responsibility

You are responsible for determining whether information produced by the Services is appropriate for your circumstances.

You agree not to rely on a SmartMoneySteven calculator or educational resource as the sole basis for a significant financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, or retirement decision.

You are also responsible for ensuring that information you enter into a calculator is accurate.

9. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the SmartMoneySteven name, branding, website content, calculators, software, designs, written content, graphics, methodologies, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to SmartMoneySteven and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of this intellectual property.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Services:

• for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
• to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
• to attempt unauthorized access to systems or accounts;
• to distribute malicious software;
• to scrape, systematically extract, or reproduce paid content for redistribution;
• to circumvent technical restrictions; or
• in a manner that infringes the rights of SmartMoneySteven or another person.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

SmartMoneySteven may use or link to third-party websites and services, including payment processors, hosting providers, analytics services, social platforms, and other online services.

Those third parties operate independently and may have their own terms and privacy policies.

SmartMoneySteven is not responsible for the availability, content, security, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.

12. Availability of the Services

We aim to keep our Services available and functional but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

Services may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, third-party outages, updates, security issues, or circumstances outside our control.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

SmartMoneySteven makes no representation or warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely accurate, suitable for every user's circumstances, or produce any particular financial outcome.

Nothing in this section excludes warranties or protections that cannot legally be excluded.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, SmartMoneySteven and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or similar damages arising from your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the Services.

This includes financial losses resulting from decisions made using educational content, estimates, projections, assumptions, or calculator results.

Where liability cannot legally be excluded, SmartMoneySteven's aggregate liability arising from a paid digital product will, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the amount paid for that product.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

15. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also subject to the SmartMoneySteven Privacy Policy.

Payment information submitted through Lemon Squeezy is processed in accordance with Lemon Squeezy's own privacy and payment practices.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our products, business practices, technologies, or applicable laws.

The current version will be posted on this website with its effective or updated date.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer protection or other statutory rights that apply based on your place of residence.
